Finding a therapist can be daunting. Finding a therapist that specifically aligns with our values is even more challenging, but it is important now more than ever. I want to take the guesswork out for you. I hold a safe space for marginalized populations, including the LGBTQIA community. I stand in solidarity with those whose voices are often ignored or oppressed. I am body-positive, kink-positive, and non-monogamy positive. Simply put, I am here to provide a compassionate, judgement free space for you to explore your concerns, heal, and grow.
I have specialized training in gender-affirming care. My approach is integrative, always taking into account the unique experiences and identities of each person, while using a trauma-informed lens. I have experience helping clients facing anxiety, depression, PTSD, ADHD, substance use, bipolar disorder, borderline personality disorder, and more.
In our work together, I will use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Motivational Interviewing, while employing additional skills from Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), such as radical acceptance and distress tolerance. These approaches allow us to address both thoughts and emotions in a balanced way, helping you build the skills needed to navigate life’s challenges with resilience and confidence.
I work with a diverse range of clients ages 12 and up. I offer virtual sessions to all residents of North Carolina and in-person sessions in Raleigh (with limited availability). I am currently accepting Cigna and Aetna, and am in the process of being able to accept Blue Cross Blue Shield insurance.
If you're ready to take the next step in your journey, please reach out. I look forward to working with you!

It is my belief that the most important part of the therapeutic process is finding someone you can trust. As a mental health therapist, I would be honored to be part of your community of support. Whether you are battling long term diagnoses such as depression, or if new life circumstances have you anxious and uncertain; I welcome any and all individuals, families, and couples who are seeking tools in achieving their idea of success and happiness.
I began my journey as a therapist because I know how difficult finding support can be. When I was enlisted in the military, I had trouble finding the support I needed. I was experiencing big changes in my personal life and did not know how to juggle my career, marriage, college, and distance relationships. After ending my time with the military, I pursued this career because I see the importance of mental health in all aspects and forms of life. I am very thankful for my time, and it was necessary to me in discovering the love I have for being an advocate. You deserve to have people in your corner who believe in you.
I adore working with adolescents, young adults, and families. I also work closely on women’s issues and maternal support. Other diagnoses I have experience with include chronic and terminal illnesses, anxiety, depression, trauma, eating disorders, and addiction. I support these symptoms primarily through CBT, ACT, and DBT. I am trained in additional modalities including Emotional Focus, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Family Systems, and addiction therapies. I also ensure to stay up-to-date on relevant and proven therapeutic practices to best fit the needs of each person.
You have already taken the first step of seeking support, which is often the hardest step. Allow me to utilize my eclectic approach that is tailored to you, to assist you on this journey of self-development.

Most people seek counseling when they are at their most vulnerable, and it takes bravery to seek support during this time. It is an honor to be trusted to sit beside you as you show your strength and resilience while taking on life’s challenges.
A strong and trusting therapeutic relationship is one of the most important components when working towards healthy change. In my approach to therapy, you are the expert of your life and your experiences. Therefore, you are the best person to direct your journey as we move toward reaching your personal goals. My job is to provide a safe space to process life’s challenges, and also provide new perspectives and tools for you to consider on your road to healing and peace.
My methods of treatment are evidence-based and include Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Motivational Interviewing, Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), and Internal Family Systems. I utilize additional tools such as mindfulness and trauma-informed care to provide a holistic approach to treatment.
I offer therapy services to adolescents and adults (ages 12+) in individual sessions via Telehealth and in person. Emily accepts Cigna, United Healthcare, Blue Cross Blue Shield, Aetna and self-pay clients
