Welcome! I commend you for taking this step towards prioritizing your mental wellbeing. My name is Alyssa, and I’m passionate about assisting clients on their journey to mental wellness.
I work with a diverse range of clients and hold a safe, healing space for individuals in the LGBTQIA+ community, with specialized training in gender-affirming care. I also have a passion for working with clients during their perinatal journey.
I work with clients ages 12 and up, and my approach is integrative, always taking into account the unique experiences and identities of each person, while using a trauma-informed lens. I understand the impact that past experiences can have, and together, we’ll work toward healing and empowerment. Also, I am body-positive, kink-positive, and non-monogamy positive.
With experience helping clients facing anxiety, depression, PTSD, ADHD, substance use, bipolar disorder, borderline personality disorder, and more, I am here to provide a compassionate, nonjudgmental space for you to explore your concerns, heal, and grow.
In our work together, I will use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Motivational Interviewing, while employing additional skills from Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), such as radical acceptance and distress tolerance. These approaches allow us to address both thoughts and emotions in a balanced way, helping you build the skills needed to navigate life’s challenges with resilience and confidence.
I offer virtual sessions to all residents of North Carolina and in-person sessions in Raleigh (with limited availability). I am currently accepting Cigna and Aetna, and am in the process of being able to accept Blue Cross Blue Shield insurance.
If you're ready to take the next step in your journey, please reach out. I look forward to working with you!

"Be not afraid of growing slowly, be afraid of standing still." - Chinese Proverb
Most people seek counseling when they are at their most vulnerable, and it takes bravery to seek support during this time. It is an honor to be trusted to sit beside you as you show your strength and resilience while taking on life’s challenges.
A strong and trusting therapeutic relationship is one of the most important components when working towards healthy change. In my approach to therapy, you are the expert of your life and your experiences. Therefore, you are the best person to direct your journey as we move toward reaching your personal goals. My job is to provide a safe space to process life’s challenges, and also provide new perspectives and tools for you to consider on your road to healing and peace.
My methods of treatment are evidence-based and include Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Motivational Interviewing, Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), and Internal Family Systems. I utilize additional tools such as mindfulness and trauma-informed care to provide a holistic approach to treatment.
I offer therapy services to adolescents and adults (ages 12+) in individual sessions via Telehealth and in person. Emily accepts Cigna, United Healthcare, Blue Cross Blue Shield, Aetna and self-pay clients
